View photos of my day trip to Bern on my Flickr album. Enjoy!

Back in 2010 when I was active on Tumblr, I posted the above photo with the comment that “I would like to visit here someday.” I was completely entranced by this photo – the cool, blue tones, the tiled rooftops, and the zigzagging and illuminated streets. Looks like a fairytale city, non?
This is Bern. And today, I got to day trip from Zurich and walk the streets of Switzlerland’s capital city. And it did not disappoint. Deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bern is beautiful and utterly charming – and should be on everyone’s go-to list when in Switzerland.

Zoo Zürich’s Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park is architecturally stunning and definitely one of the zoo’s biggest highlights, but the zoo is also home to over 380 animal species, including one of my favourites, the orangutans.
I find these highly intelligent, compassionate and endangered species so endearing, which is why after spending time at the elephant park, I spent most of my time hanging out with the Sumatran orangutans.

Is it surprising that I went to check out FIFA World Football Museum? Is it a bigger surprise that I actually enjoyed it? Even more so than the Kunsthaus Zürich, Landesmuseum Zürich, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst and Museum für Gestaltung.
