It certainly wasn’t planned, but this trip to London is looking like it’s taking up a Harry Potter theme. Sure, I’m going to go re-visit my favourite haunts, like the British Museum and the V+A, but this is my sixth time visiting London and I wanted to do something new. And that turned out to be going to Warner Bros. ‘The Making of Harry Potter’ Tour.
Because why not? Even though I’m not a hard-core Potter head, I do love movies and the all the behind-the-scenes magic in making them. Two huge sound stages + back lot where you can see all the iconic sets, loads of props and costumes, interactive activities and special effects up close? Let’s go!

Do you remember where you were and what you were doing on January 11, 2016?
I do. I’ll always remember that date because that was the day when David Bowie died. I was at work, online, when the interwebs lit up like a Christmas tree with news of his untimely passing. And I remember still feeling gutted days afterwards.
Six months after his death, and I get the opportunity to visit London again? Well, I just had to make the pilgrimage to Brixton and pay my respects at the David Bowie mural.

Not only did I luck out at being in London for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child previews, but I also got to check out the New Tate Modern during its opening weekend.
Full disclosure: on the whole, I’m not a huge modern art fan but that being said, I’ll always keep an open mind when checking new exhibitions. Because they can’t always be big time suckage. And there was the new 10 story Switch House to explore and all events were free throughout the opening weekend.
