A Tree Grows In Vancouver

This IS the gift that keeps on giving.

The David and Dorothy Lam Foundation along with the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival are offering up for sale 3,000 cherry blossom trees, to go with the 37,000 already beautifying Vancouver streets.

VCBF are offering a choice of 3 flowering cherry trees:

cherry blossoms kanzan
Prunus sato zakura group – ‘kanzan’

cherry blossoms prunus pendula
Prunus pendula ‘yae-beni-shidare’ aka weeping higan

And my favourite:

cherry blossoms akebono
Prunus x yedoensis – ‘akebono’

One day I hope to have a big enough backyard to plant a cherry blossom tree.

Mmmm… makes me want to play hooky and spend a lazy day on the grass underneath the cherry trees.
