Not even a day in Geneva and I leave to day trip to Morges for the Audrey Hepburn + Hubert de Givenchy Une Elégante Amitié exhibition. There were a couple of things I kept in mind when building my Europe itinerary and this exhibition was one of them. Being a huge and forever fan, I wasn’t going to miss this.

Morges is just a short 32 minute train ride from Geneva and is a really pretty, charming town by the water. The major retrospective was spread out over 3 venues: the Expo Fondation Bolle, Musée Alexis Forel and the Château de morges et Ses Musée – all the more to showcase the extraordinary collaboration between Audrey Heburn, one of the most famous actresses in the world and Hubert de Givenchy, one of the greatest French fashion designer.

The tour started at the Château de Morges et Ses Musée in the magnificent XVI century room, where haute couture pieces from her personal collection, as well as, iconic dresses from Audrey Hepburn’s movies were on display. From Breakfast at Tiffany’s, there was the iconic little black dress, the bubblegum pink cocktail dress, the camel coat and some featured hats. There was also her suit ensemble from Charade.

The next stop of the exhibition was at the Expo Fondation Bolle a short walk away. Displayed here were Hubert de Givenchy’s original dress sketches, Audrey Hepburn’s iconic pink dress she wore when she married Andrea Dotti in 1969, the original bottle of l’Interdit, the perfume that Givenchy made exclusively for Audrey Hepburn, personal effects and correspondence between the two.

The last stop in the exhibition was at the nearby Musée Alexis Forel, which featured Hubert de Givenchy’s dresses over the decades, Audrey Hepburn magazine covers and portraits, as well as, a documentary recounting Audrey Hepburn’s life in Switzerland.

The exhibition is elegant and exquisite – just like Audrey Hepburn and Hubert de Givenchy. I’m so happy that my Europe trip timed out beautifully so I could be here for this. If you’re a fan of both, I totally recommend this retrospective.
