Traveling Europe As A Solo Female

view of zurich from a plane
After 5 fun days in Berlin, we took the train back to Amsterdam. We spent one day in the city and then the next morning, I bid Sean goodbye at the airport, as he flew back to Vancouver and I flew onwards to Zurich.

And it was hella tough. As much as I was excited at seeing more of Europe, it felt a bit daunting to do it all by myself. I had enjoyed traveling with him on our European vacation. Plus this would be the most time we spent apart in almost 8 1/2 years. And 5 weeks apart is not small by any means.

I knew that if the separation got to much, I could stop at any time, eat the cost and just book a flight back home. I gave myself permission for an out.

I will, however, try my best to complete as much of my trip as possible. Thank the ceiling for technology and the ease of staying connected.

So my itinerary is as planned:

trip map of central europe
Jul 23-29 – Zurich, Switzerland
Jul 29-Aug 1 – Geneva, Switzerland
Aug 1-6 – Munich, Germany
Aug 6-8 – Salzburg, Austria
Aug 8-12 -Vienna, Austria
Aug 12-17 – Prague, Czech Republic
Aug 17-19 – Dresden, Germany
Aug 19-22 – Hamburg, Germany
Aug 22-26 -Dusseldorf / Cologne
Aug 27 – Amsterdam
Aug 28 – Return to Vancouver

I’ll fly from Amsterdam to Zurich and Geneva to Munich, otherwise, I’ll be taking the train to all the destinations. I did the math and I’ll be staying at both hotels and airbnbs, as some places the hotels work out to be the same price (or slightly lower) than an AirBnB. Yes, really! And to save money, I’ll be staying with hosts at the AirBnBs.

Away we go! Solo female traveler FTW.
