Exploring Street Murals in the Strathcona Neighbourhood

It’s no secret that I love street art and murals. Every time I travel to some place new, I always seek out those cities’ works of art.

There are many benefits to living in the ‘burbs, but what’s missing is the time to get to the Mount Pleasant area to see the ever growing number of murals displayed by the annual Vancouver Mural Festival.

It’s been a couple of years since we went, and in that one afternoon outing, we could only cover so much. So during my time off, Sean and I hit up the Strathcona area to check out murals that were unveiled in 2016-2017. Mostly because it’s still pandemic times and checking out years old murals mean less crowds to deal with.

We’re so glad we hit up Strathcona, because there were some really fantastic pieces too. Check it out:

One of the best pieces I’ve seen this time out is Till All Are One by AA Crew, located at 876 Cordova Division. It’s very Japanese manga and if you dig on the Transformers, you’ll likely be wowed by this block long mural too.

So talent. Much creativity. And that’s just a drop in the bucket of all the Vancouver’s murals that’s been unveiled since 2016. There’s still a ton more to catch up on and see. And since we’ve currently put the kibosh on international travel due to COVID, it looks like I’ll continue to tourist in my city on my vacation days.
