Because I’m feeling like a big furry pile of love today, I thought I’d post the 10 commandments of pet ownership.

Exactly one year ago, we adopted our little peanut. My spidey senses had been tingling and I suddenly felt the urge to go to the SPCA. Walking into the shelter, I kept reminding myself to remain non-committal. I said to Sean, “We’re just having a look. Doesn’t mean we have to adopt a kitty today.”
And then we came upon this little face and it was all over for me. It was love at first sight.

What’s that they say again? That you will start to resemble your pet? Or that your pet resembles you, given enough time?
Here’s Charlie sleeping like his human. On his back, with arms above his head, a la “This is a stick-up!”
Yes, for such little things, we take up a lot of space.

Yee-haw! Last week, Sean and I were finally headed up to Pemberton (1/2 hour past whistler) to ride horses. It’s been one of the things on our to-do list for quite a while.
I booked us with Adventures on Horseback because they didn’t offer the usual “nose-to-tail” trail rides.
Years ago, me and some girlfriends went horseback riding in Whistler and it was just going up a hill and back down again. Not too exciting. So I was sold when I read that this company’s 2 hour ride takes you through open meadows, old growth temperate rain forests and creek crossings. And I liked that the company is family owned by an actual cowboy and horse breeder.

This is what happens when we take only Charlie to the park…
Charlie pops out of the bag and makes his presence known. Loudly. He was also looking around for the cat who likes to hiss at him. (we left Jonesy at home this time)
And before long, he’s on the grass, making himself comfortable. Even going so far as to make himself a little too comfortable.

Sunny days means kitty park days!
You’d think that after a couple of times exposure to each other, the kitties would be used to and/or start to be friendly each other. Well, we learned that it could either take a few times in each others company or it could possibly take 20+ times. And it seems that with Jonesy, we’re going to err on the side of 20+ times.

Last week was the first ever potluck theme night at archery. Besides the obvious BYOF to share, it meant it was games night and there would be prizes to win.
There were 21 of us and we were divided into categories of: women’s recurve, men’s recurve and men’s compound. Each group would shoot at the same time and compete with each other. In my women’s group, there were 7 of us.
Right off the bat, during our practice run, I scored double 10s from our 18m line! (that’s 2 arrows hitting bullseye in one end) I was elated. My third arrow didn’t hit the target, but that’ll be a goal for the next time.

I was in the bathroom, washing up before bed, when all of a sudden, I heard a rustling in the hallway. Turns out it was Charlie tossing his stuffy, snowy the owl, out of his carrier, so that he could get in it.
Well, this confirms that Charlie was not put off of going out by Jonesy’s behaviour. In fact, it looks like he wants to go see his little buddy again.
