No Escape From Time Escape

time escape room defeat
Another escape room in so many days. This time with Peggy in Richmond at Time Escape. And another fail as we tried to complete the spaceship mysteries escape room. We had originally wanted to try out the haunted cabin, but it was already booked and wouldn’t be done by the time we arrived.

So we thought we’d take a stab at spaceship mysteries. To be fair, we were one person short, as the minimum number of required players was three. And you definitely need at least three players, as one of the clues require three bodies in three points of the room. Plus the difficulty is rated 7/10.

While it was fun trying to put the pieces together, in the correct sequence no less, I’m all ears as to what was needed to be done in order to escape the room. Spoilers welcomed!

Locked Out Of Locked

locked escape room defeat
For our friend’s birthday, we went to Locked Canada, an escape room on Kingsway. Escape rooms are somewhat all the rage in Vancouver right now, with one popping up every few months. I thought with three hardcore and lifelong gamers on our team, we would for sure have the Z Apocalypse room beat.

Erm, not so much. Using up our three clues in the 45 minutes allotted, we were still around 20+ minutes to completing our room. Course, we may have been too ambitious, as the success rate is currently holding at 5%.

So, here we are in all our fail glory. If anyone has completed this room, do let me know – I’m not precious about spoilers when it comes to games.

Mad Max Meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre

mad max fury road survivor halloween costume
Oh, just another night at Casa de Sullichan. This year, we looked to the movies for Halloween costume inspiration. Sean went as Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, while I opted for a post-apocalyptic survivor from Mad Max. Although I would totally dress up as Imperator Furiosa or the Vulvilini, if I did do Fury Road, I would’ve loved to be a female version of Immortan Joe. That mask! And shock of white hair.

A Brilliant Evening

Every year, my work’s foundation mounts Brilliant!, the most spectacular evening of fashion and dance to support much-needed mental health and addiction programs at St. Paul’s Hospital. The gala event at Commodore Ballroom sells out weeks in advance, with many of the attendees going all out and dressing up flamboyantly.

This would be my first year live-tweeting it and I found that the Brilliant! event did indeed live up to its name. The annual event truly is a labour of love, with over 300 of Vancouver’s most fashion-forward designers, hairstylists, make-up artists and performers all volunteering their time and talent.

A Day In The Life Of A Resident Doctor

A Day In The Life Of A Resident Doctor poster
Ever wonder what it’s like to be a resident doctor?

I found out with my “A day in the life of” initiative at work. Last week, I followed a group of resident doctors over the course of a twelve hour shift and gave our followers a candid snapshot into a typical workday at St. Paul’s Hospital, a clinical academic teaching hospital in downtown Vancouver. I fielded questions from our community, posted photos and video for the behind-the-scenes snapshot.

Flickr Photo Set: London

london 2015 flickr album
Having visited London five times already, I still feel like I have more to explore. I have still yet to venture out to Oxford and Cambridge, Brighton Beach and the white cliffs of Dover. And don’t even get me started with Ireland and Scotland.

I’ll come back soon and continue my love affair with London. And until that day, I’ll flip through my photos and remember you fondly.

Iceland has been on my bucket list forever. And I finally got to go. And fell immediately in love with the country. So much beauty. It’s otherworldly. And it will beckon me to come again.

Thanks for a great first visit! I’ll be back. There’s so much more Iceland I need to see and explore.

Reflections on London

London continues to surprise me. Like New York, London is electrifying, creative, inspiring and a place that I’ll never tire of visiting. No matter how many times I go, there’s always something new and fresh to take in. And like New York, I feel completely at home there. I should have been born there. The music, fashion, arts, architecture, history and people. London is my jam.

Flying Home On The Hekla Aurora

hekla aurora plane
No freaking way! My flight from London to Reykyjavik was on Icelandair’s Hekla Aurora aircraft! The one with the interior aurora borealis lights. The one that I was tweeting at Icelandair to see if it would be flown on any of my routes.

The bummer? Because my flight was during the day, the lights wouldn’t be on. How’s that for irony!?
