Having been a huge Alice in Wonderland fan for most of my life, I was really chuffed that my visit to London would coincide with the 150th anniversary of the first publication of Lewis Carroll’s Alice books.
Oh, if only I had more time so that I could’ve day tripped out to Oxford to take in the tea parties, croquet games and famous boat ride that inspired the book. Or to Cambridge or Bath to join the Mad Hatter tea party. Or any other numerous celebrations in the country.
But I did make a required stop to the V+A Museum of Childhood to check out their exhibit: The Alice Look. The exhibit featured garments, photographs, rare editions and illustrations showing Alice as a style icon and how she continues to inspire and influence celebrities and fashionistas today.

Back to East London! The reason was two-fold: the first, to purchase my costume for Secret Cinema’s The Empire Strikes Back Experience (!) tonite and the second to explore the area and search for street art.
After my Camden Street Art Tour, I decided to strike out on my own this time. East London is a canvas of street art, so it wasn’t very hard to come across lots of really good ones. Note to self: next time I’m in London, I must spend more time in this area.

If I had to choose, which London museum would be my ultimate favourite? The British Museum or the V+A? That’s a toughie. I enjoy them both but for different reasons. Not sure if I would be able to answer. It might just depend on the mood I was in when asked.
On the one hand, the V+A is the world’s largest museum on arts and design. But on the other hand, the British Museum is dedicated to human history, art and culture. But any time I’m in London, I make it my mission to visit both of them. Bonus point: V+A has a cafeteria that serves cream tea!
