Petals In The Wind

“Spring for Ling!” Those were the words that greeted me when I came home the other day. And what a pleasant surprise.

As much as I love flowers, we can’t have them in the house, as most are toxic to the kitties. Also, Sean has never been a big flower giver, as he doesn’t believe in paying the highway robbery prices for blooms (especially around holidays). He’d sooner pick me wild flowers from a field. And also, he wants to distinguish himself from all the other guys out there, who resort to flowers for occasions or apologies.

Charlie Wants Out

It’s spring. And you know what that means. Charlie wants some outdoor playtime. To explore, to bask in the sun, roll around on the ground and eat blades of grass. Those 630am wake-up scratches slash meows at the window are going to be happening every day now.

Fiver

And then my soul saw you and it kinda went, “Oh, there you are. I’ve been looking for you.”

5 years ago today, I met a fella who would change my life forever. Happy anniversary, babe.

Our Swanky Anniversary

This morning I woke up in a five star hotel. And let me tell you, I did not want to leave.

It’s the gorgeous super soaker tub. And the walk-in rainforest shower, big enough to hold 5 adults comfortably. The heated marble bathroom floors. The his and hers dual sink vanities!

It’s the art-deco style salt-water pool with up lights and retro architectural ceiling. It’s the dark mahogany wood styling, a throwback to 1920s Hollywood. It’s the white glove treatment. It’s the Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

Day Job

One Of The Firsts

“Vancouver Opera was one of the first of the major performance organizations in the province to jump aboard the social-media train, when it hired social media manager Ling Chan in 2008. Chan immediately launched a blog and opened the Vancouver Opera Twitter account in 2009. While Chan became a casualty of layoffs in 2011, when the organization tackled an $831,000 deficit, VO’s social media presence remain strong. (the company’s financial woes are now in the past, with 2012-13 ending with an accumulated surplus of $169,000.) There is a steady stream of behind-the-scenes videos on VO’s Youtube account, cross-linked to Facebook, Twitter and its still popular blog…its Twitter account currently boasts more than 10,100 followers…”Georgia Straight

It warms my heart to know that although I’m no longer with Vancouver Opera, I left a lasting digital legacy and that I’m still remembered for pioneering social media in the Vancouver arts scene.

Getting Toasty

Whenever our furnace spews out heat, Charlie always goes and sits and/or lays himself down on the vent. Because even kitties feel cold during the winter. What a little cutie.
