A Dozen Anniversaries in the Bag

Today it’s our 12th anniversary + our 2nd pandemic anniversary.

We might not be able to celebrate like we normally do, but the important thing is that we’re still here. Together. Navigating this stressful, hella scary, gut punch of a year.

Thank you to my partner in crime for being there + always doing his best to lift my spirits up. Love you, babe. x #timeismeaningless #insidejoke

About the girl

This is 49

By the age of 49, I had travelled to 12 countries, and visited over 100 places. I pivoted five times in my career, but had always built on what I’ve learned, so that my skills were always transferable.

By the age of 49, I had lost both of my grandparents, one parent and am an aunt to a teenage niece.

As a quintessential Gen X-er, I still don’t feel like a real grown up. I mean, check me out…

Goodbye My Sweet Friend

magnolia tree
A few weeks ago, I woke up to the terrible news that my dear friend whom I’ve known for over 25 years passed away. And since then I have been trying to process this loss. Throughout our 2 1/2 decades of friendship, we traveled together,  partied together, lived together, and had many girls night in/out together.

Some days I can barely get out of bed or off the couch. Other days I do my best to compartmentalize my thoughts and emotions just so I could make it through the workday.

I am not ok.

2020: A Retrospective

Well, that was quite the dumpster fire of a year, non?

It was hella challenging, not mention scary as ‘eff, but this forced time out gave us an opportunity to reflect and remind ourselves of what is really important. And that is our relationships, the people in our lives and in our community. We can get through anything together as long as we look out for each other. Anything else is inconsequential or just icing on the cake.

Spotify: 2020 Wrapped

It’s the end of the year, a time for self-reflection and of course, wrap up posts. And once again, Spotify delivers on showcasing to their users their top streamed songs, artists, albums and podcasts in 2020.

The results of my 2019 Wrapped didn’t really come as a huge surprise to me. But 2020 was a year like no other. I spent a lot of my aural time, listening to the equivalent of comfort food songs, in order to help me deal with what was going on in the world. I sought out songs that were like a giant, reassuring hug. And it showed.

Luna + Charlie Photo Roundup #5

One of the positives of this upside down year is that Sean and I have gotten to work from home. It’s been good for our cats and especially good for us. If and when we ever transition back to the office (the tentative timeline for me is next June), I will definitely miss all the face time and cuddle breaks with these fuzzy faces.

Ghosts Of Halloweens Past

When I was a kidlet, Halloween was perhaps my favourite holidays of the year. You have candy and horror movies and dressing up and sleepovers. And candy! (I thought that deserved a second mention).

As an adult, I still haven’t grown out of all the Halloween festivities. Luckily for me, neither have my friends.

Since moving back from New York five years ago, we’re still indulging our inner child by donning costumes and taking to the streets together.
